First Impressions
The Yemeya Goddess of the Sea EdiciΓ³n Limitada 2022 is an interesting-looking Toro wrapped in Ecuadorian Connecticut over Nicaraguan binder and filler from Jalapa and Condega. The pre-light profile is delicate, with cream, toasted nuts, biscuit, and a little coffee coming through. Construction initially feels good and the draw offers comfortable resistance.
Smoking Experience
First Third β Opens softly with cream, biscuit, and cashew, accompanied by a mild roasted coffee note. It is pleasant and easy-going, but the profile is already quite restrained and there is not much depth developing behind the initial flavours.
Second Third β The same core flavours continue with very little change. Cream, nuts, and light toast remain dominant, but the cigar starts to feel one-dimensional and slightly boring. A relight is needed, interrupting an already fairly static smoking experience.
Final Third β There is a small increase in roasted character, but not enough to significantly change the profile. Another relight is required and the cigar never really develops the complexity or transitions needed to keep the experience engaging.
Pairings
Alcohol β Hine Rare VSOP Cognac (France) - Soft fruit, vanilla, and gentle oak add some welcome richness without overpowering the cigar's delicate Connecticut profile.
Tea β Nepal Jun Chiyabari Himalayan White Tea - Light floral sweetness and subtle fruit complement the cigar's creamy character while adding some contrast to its restrained flavour profile.
Music Pairing
βDidn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)β β The Delfonics
Smooth and mellow, matching the cigar's gentle character.
Final Thoughts
Yemeya Goddess of the Sea EdiciΓ³n Limitada 2022 is a pleasant enough Connecticut cigar with cream, cashew, biscuit, and coffee providing an approachable profile. Unfortunately, it struggles to develop beyond that initial combination. The experience becomes boring and one-dimensional for long stretches, while needing a couple of relights further damages the rhythm of the smoke.
Final Score: 6/10
Why not a 10?
The cigar required a couple of relights and, more importantly, remained too one-dimensional throughout. The flavours were pleasant but showed very little evolution or complexity, making the overall experience much less engaging than expected.
Only cigars that deliver flawless draw, balance, flavour evolution, construction and satisfaction get a 10.
