First Impressions
The JFR Lunatic Habano Short Robusto has a rugged, substantial appearance with a rich brown Habano wrapper and an excellent feel in hand. The cigar appears evenly packed with good firmness throughout. Pre-light aromas reveal cedar, roasted coffee, cocoa, and black pepper. The cold draw offers ideal resistance with a pleasant combination of earth and natural tobacco sweetness.
Smoking Experience
First Third – Opens with roasted coffee, cedar, and a healthy dose of black pepper. Smoke production is generous and creamy, while a subtle cocoa sweetness keeps the spice beautifully balanced.
Second Third – Dark cocoa becomes more prominent alongside roasted nuts and earth, giving the cigar greater depth. The pepper settles into the background and the profile feels rich, balanced, and satisfying.
Final Third – The strength and intensity increase, with coffee and earth becoming darker and heavier. Unfortunately, bitterness begins to develop during the final third, slightly disturbing the excellent balance established earlier in the smoke.

JFR Lunatic Habano Short Robusto is a rich and thoroughly satisfying cigar, delivering roasted coffee, cedar, cocoa, earth, and plenty of Nicaraguan spice. The first two-thirds show excellent balance and enough development to keep the experience engaging. Only the appearance of bitterness in the final third prevents an otherwise superb performance from earning a perfect score.
