Tasting Notes
Cream β Soft, elegant Davidoff foundation
White Pepper β Brighter and sharper than usual for the line
Cedar β Clean, crisp wood throughout
Citrus Zest β Light acidity adding lift
First Impressions
The No. 1 is long, slender, and beautifully rolled with a silky Ecuadorian Connecticut Claro wrapper. Pre-light aromas bring cream, hay, and citrus. Cold draw is perfect, offering a whisper of pepper and wood.
Smoking Experience
First Third β Cream and cedar open softly, but a noticeable dose of white pepper makes the profile sharper than expected. Burn straight and clean.
Second Third β Citrus zest and dried grass notes appear with elegance. Pepper remains strong, adding more intensity than usual for a Signature blend.
Final Third β Pepper peaks and the cigar becomes slightly hot. A relight is needed, but the flavors recover into a refined cedar-cream close.
Pairings
Alcohol β Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt , light fruit, soft oak, and gentle spice that complement the cigarβs cream-citrus balance without amplifying the pepper.
Tea β High-Mountain Ali Shan Oolong (Taiwan), floral and buttery, rounding off the sharper edges of the spice.
Music Pairing
βBrown Sugarβ β DβAngelo
Smooth groove gives warmth and richness missing from the sharper profile
Final Thoughts
The Davidoff Signature No. 1 is elegant, balanced, and long in profile, with cream, cedar, and citrus leading β but a surprisingly strong pepper kick pushes it outside classic Davidoff softness. One relight in the last stretch kept it just shy of perfection.
Final Score: 8/10
Why not a 10?
Pepper was slightly overpowering for the blend, and the single relight broke its otherwise refined rhythm.
Only cigars that deliver flawless draw, balance, flavour evolution, construction and satisfaction get a 10.
