Tasting Notes
Dark Chocolate – Bitter-sweet and rich
Red Pepper – Sharp retrohale lift
Earth – Deep, grounding layer
Molasses – Subtle dark sweetness in the mid-third
First Impressions
The Super Deluxe Toro shows a dark, oily Mexican San Andres wrapper with rugged BLTC charisma and tight, precise seams. Pre-light aroma brings cocoa, damp earth, and pepper. Cold draw is noticeably firm, but flavors of chocolate and spice still peek through.
Smoking Experience
First Third – Chocolate, pepper, and earth open boldly. Tight draw slightly restricts smoke output but construction otherwise flawless.
Second Third – Molasses sweetness develops, softening the spice. Earth deepens and pepper becomes more refined. Tight draw persists but doesn’t hinder burn quality.
Final Third – Stronger espresso and earth with lingering chocolate. Spice rises again. Draw finally loosens slightly but remains firm. Burn stays straight to the nub.
Pairings
Alcohol – Stiggins’ Fancy Pineapple Dark Rum , smoky-sweet pineapple and molasses that brighten the cigar’s heavy chocolate-earth core.
Tea – Chinese Dian Hong Golden Tip Black Tea, smooth, malty, with honeyed edges to buffer the cigar’s peppery punch.
Music Pairing
“Karmacoma” – Massive Attack
Shadowy, textured rhythm fitting the cigar’s dark profile.
Final Thoughts
The BLTC Super Deluxe Toro delivers the brand’s signature darkness — chocolate, earth, pepper, and molasses — with excellent construction and razor-sharp burn. A tight draw holds it back slightly, but the flavor intensity remains strong throughout.
Final Score: 9/10
Why not a 10?
Firm draw throughout reduced smoke density and muted some transitions, otherwise nearly flawless.
Only cigars that deliver flawless draw, balance, flavour evolution, construction and satisfaction get a 10.
