‍ ‍Tasting Notes

  • Cedar – Classic Cuban foundation

  • Black Pepper – Bold, refined spice

  • Leather – Rich and savoury through the middle

  • Earth – Deep, lingering finish

First Impressions

The Partagás Salomones LCDH is an impressive cigar with an elegant figurado shape and a beautifully finished wrapper. It feels extremely firm in hand, giving the impression that it may be overfilled. Pre-light aromas reveal cedar, leather, earth, and the unmistakable Partagás spice. The cold draw is noticeably resistant.

Smoking Experience

  • First Third – Opens with rich cedar, leather, and signature Cuban pepper. Smoke is flavorful, although the draw already feels more restricted than ideal due to the dense bunching.

  • Second Third – The cigar begins to struggle as a large wrapper split develops, disrupting the burn and requiring constant attention. The overfilled construction continues to restrict airflow, preventing the blend from fully opening up.

  • Final Third – The wrapper split worsens, making the final part of the smoke increasingly frustrating. Despite flashes of classic Partagás richness, construction issues dominate the experience and prevent the cigar from reaching its full potential.

Pairings

  • Alcohol – Martell Cordon Bleu Cognac (France)
Rich dried fruit, spice, and elegant oak beautifully complement the cigar's leathery Cuban profile while softening its rougher moments.

  • Tea – Aged Liu Bao Tea (Guangxi, China)
Earthy sweetness and mature woody notes pair perfectly with the cigar's cedar and leather character.

Music Pairing

“Telegraph Road” – Dire Straits
Long, refined, and full of character, mirroring the cigar's potential.

Final Thoughts

Partagás Salomones LCDH offers the rich cedar, leather, spice, and earthy complexity expected from a premium Cuban figurado. Unfortunately, an overfilled bunch and a major wrapper split turn what could have been a superb smoking experience into a frustrating one.

Final Score: 7/10
Why not a 10?
The cigar felt overfilled throughout, restricting the draw, while a large wrapper split severely affected the burn and overall enjoyment.

Only cigars that deliver flawless draw, balance, flavour evolution, construction and satisfaction get a 10.
