Tasting Notes

  • Cedar – Classic Cuban wood backbone

  • Earth – Rustic, grounding undertone

  • Honey – Faint sweetness peeking through

  • White Pepper – Gentle retrohale spice

First Impressions

The Cohiba Siglo V presents a smooth, Colorado wrapper with a soft sheen and delicate veins. Pre-light aromas are cedar, hay, and a touch of sweetness. Cold draw is extremely tight, raising immediate concerns.

Smoking Experience

  • First Third – Cedar and earth appear faintly, but smoke output is minimal due to the tight draw. Burn begins uneven.

  • Second Third – Honey-like sweetness flickers, but the draw remains choked. Requires a relight midway.

  • Final Third – Harshness creeps in, pepper barely present. Another relight is needed, draw still restricted, flavors muted.

Pairings

  • Alcohol – Chartreuse Green Liqueur , herbal intensity to bring life to the cigar’s muted profile.

  • Tea – Moroccan Gunpowder Green Tea (Morocco), smoky and sharp, refreshing the palate against the flat draw-limited flavors.

Music Pairing

β€œI Can’t Quit You Baby” – Otis Rush

Frustrated emotion, reflecting the tight draw struggle.

Final Thoughts

The Cohiba Siglo V is a legendary vitola on paper, but this sample disappointed with an extremely tight draw, minimal smoke output, uneven burn, and two relights. Any flavor elegance was buried under construction flaws.

Final Score: 3/10
Why not a 10?
Tight draw throughout and repeated relights ruined the experience, leaving little to enjoy.

Only cigars that deliver flawless draw, balance, flavour evolution, construction and satisfaction get a 10.
